IB Computer Science comes in two flavors: Standard Level (SL) and Higher Level (HL). Both share a common core, but HL adds a distinct chunk of content, more class hours, and a harder final exam. What the two levels share
SL and HL students sit through the same core syllabus, organized around topics like system fundamentals, computer organization, networks, computational thinking, and social/ethical implications of computing. Both groups also complete the same Internal Assessment (IA): a self-designed software solution to a real problem, documented in a written report and backed by a working program (commonly built in Java, though other languages are accepted if the school supports them).
